Our client, Scottish Power, is seeking several Environmental Advisors for long-term contract roles based at Cambuslang / Sites / working hybrid.

Purpose

As an Environmental Advisor, you will support the SP Transmission Environmental Manager, Environmental Department, and Engineering and Construction staff to deliver, monitor, and improve the company's Environmental Management Systems to maintain ISO 14001 accreditation. You will provide environmental expertise and advice to internal teams and external parties involved in energy-related projects.

Responsibilities

1. Ensure compliance with the internal Environmental Management System to preserve ISO 14001 accreditation.
2. Support and advise project teams throughout the construction phase to meet statutory environmental requirements.
3. Maintain and enhance Environmental Procedures to address emerging environmental legislation relevant to construction activities.
4. Provide guidance on environmental controls, constraints, and legislation specific to projects.
5. Develop and implement methods and practices to improve environmental performance.
6. Create Environmental Management Plans for projects, incorporating survey findings and licenses.
7. Liaise with regulators and stakeholders, such as Nature Scot, throughout projects.
8. Manage environmental monitoring and inspection programs, document performance, and prepare reports.
9. Support investigations and reporting of environmental incidents.
10. Develop and deliver environmental training and awareness programs.
11. Review contractors' environmental documentation, focusing on regulations and requirements.

Skills & Requirements

Candidates should have proven experience in environmental management, knowledge of ISO 14001, environmental auditing, and regulator interactions, preferably within utilities, services, or construction sectors. Additional requirements include:

• Degree in a relevant environmental discipline.
• Deep understanding of current and emerging environmental legislation.
• Strong influencing, consulting, and communication skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Planning and analytical skills to anticipate and solve problems.
• Experience collaborating with contractors.
• Membership of a relevant professional body (desirable).
• Environmental auditing qualification (desirable).

Minimum qualifications and experience include:

• 3+ years of on-site environmental experience in engineering or construction environments.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Degree in an environmental discipline.
• Knowledge of ecological and hydrological aspects on construction sites.
• CSCS card or Safety Passport.
• Valid driving license.
