Opportunity overview

Energy Programmes is one of our newest Business Units and has been formed with the vision to support positive change and help shape the future of Nuclear Power. Our embedded teams are delivering support to Hinkley Point C (New build power station in the South West), Sizewell C (located in the South East), helping develop technologies in SMR (Small modular Reactor) capability and working towards building Poland's first Energy Power station.

Role focus

Hinkley Point C (HPC) is the first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years. HPC's two EPR reactors will be capable of generating 3.26 GW of secure, low carbon electricity for 60 years, enough electricity to power around 6 million homes. In addition to the project\'s 'clean energy' benefits, HPC will create thousands of jobs and bring lasting benefits to the UK economy.

Amentum are currently recruiting for an Environmental Advisor to work on the HPC project in the South West.

Responsibilities
  • Detailed knowledge of environmental legislation in the UK relevant to a construction site, plus knowledge of the supporting guidance, reference notes, industry best practice
  • Awareness of the client/contractor relationship and legal responsibilities under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015
  • Must be able to work independently and demonstrate excellent communication/interpersonal and influencing skills
  • A well-developed skill-set with regards to the communication with, and management of, sub-contractors
Qualifications
  • Degree qualified or equivalent in an environmental or related discipline
  • Experience of operating within an environmental management system (EMS) conforming to recognised standards (BS EN ISO14001:2004), including the development of procedures to meet the requirements of the EMS
  • Experience of working within a dynamic construction environment with site-based experience
  • Experience of working with and developing good relationships with the regulators (e.g. Environment Agency, Natural England, Local Authorities, Marine Management Organisation)
Desirable
  • Experience in soil and materials management (CL:AIRE protocol) is desirable;
  • Experience in EPR permit compliance is desirable.
