Our linear habitats along the road network help integrate the Strategic Road Network into the landscape and provide habitat corridors for protected species. We are passionate about managing these areas and seek ecologists or landscape/arboriculturalists to support our Environment Teams in maintaining these assets while ensuring the safe operation of our road networks.

Please note that you will be required to drive as part of your role, and you will need to have no more than 3 points on your driving license to be considered for this position and during employment.

  • Undertake inspections of environmental assets, in line with inspection regimes and statutory requirements.
  • Identify and evaluate environmental needs related to developing maintenance solutions for environmental assets.
  • Develop future renewal and improvement projects, including compiling relevant documents and evidence.
  • Monitor the delivery of solutions and plans, liaising with relevant teams to address issues.
  • Ensure environmental inventory and condition data are captured and maintained in relevant databases.

About you.

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in habitat management, including protected species, tree protection, or woodland management.
  • Broad knowledge of environmental receptors and their impacts.
  • Knowledge of asset condition assessment, such as landscape and ecology condition assessments.
  • Understanding of environmental regulations and standards applicable to the highways network.
