Environment Manager - 9-12 Month Contract
Regional Role - South
Day Rate: ~ £450 per day (Inside IR35) (DOE)

Are you an experienced Environmental Manager seeking a new contract role with major projects in the construction sector? Passionate about driving environmental sustainability and innovation on-site?

A leading Principal Contractor is recruiting for an Environment Manager for a 9-12-month contract role (maternity cover). The role is site-based, leading a regional team across the South from Cambridge to Brighton, including key London projects, and working closely with clients to ensure high environmental standards.

Responsibilities for the Environment Manager will include:

  1. Leading and mentoring a team of Environmental Advisors across multiple high-profile projects in sectors such as energy, defence, rail, and healthcare
  2. Working with clients and delivery teams to embed sustainability best practices and ensure compliance with ISO14001 and ISO50001 standards
  3. Conducting regular site visits and audits to identify risks, drive innovation, and enhance environmental performance from pre-construction through to completion
  4. Supporting incident investigations and delivering workshops to upskill teams
  5. Reporting on trends, performance, and risks while ensuring stakeholder engagement and regulatory approvals are effectively managed

The successful Environment Manager will have:

  1. Strong experience managing environmental performance on large-scale construction projects
  2. Technical expertise in ISO14001/50001, sustainability assessments (BREEAM, LEED), and relevant environmental legislation
  3. A degree in Environmental Management, Sustainability or related discipline, with IEMA or similar professional membership preferred
  4. Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to coach teams and manage changing project needs
