Health and Safety and Environment Manager

  • Annual Salary: £55,371
  • Location: Sydenham and Orpington, London
  • Job Type: Full-time, 36 hours per week

My client are a well-established hospice, seeking an experience Health & Safety Manager to join their dedicated Estates team in a vital role that coordinates and manages the organisation’s health and safety practices while monitoring its environmental impact. This position is crucial for ensuring a safe and healthy work environment across all their locations in the Southeast London Region.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Provide expert Health and Safety advice, assistance, and support across the organisation.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety laws and organisational policies.
  • Oversee and improve environmental impact measures.
  • Conduct regular reviews and updates of health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform audits, risk assessments, and health and safety inspections across all sites.
  • Manage incident reporting and investigations.
  • Develop and deliver health and safety training and oversee environmental performance reporting.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
  • Chartered member of IOSH and holder of a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.
  • IEMA Certificate in Environmental Management and FPA Fire Risk Assessment or equivalent.
  • Extensive knowledge of health and safety and environmental laws and regulations.
  • Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within a healthcare or retail setting.
  • Strong organisational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and lead on health and safety discussions.
