Denholm Industrial Services is seeking an experienced Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Manager to lead our HSE initiatives at our client’s site in Glasgow. The successful candidate will work closely with the Regional HSE Manager to oversee the development, implementation, and enforcement of SHE policies and procedures, ensuring comprehensive compliance across all work scopes through regular inspections and monitoring within a large, fixed-site operation. This leadership role involves providing strategic advice to site personnel, establishing and maintaining effective risk control strategies, and fostering a proactive safety culture. A strong on-site presence is essential, with a focus on engaging with operatives involved in Abrasive Blasting, Painting, and Cleaning, while supporting our delivery team in driving continuous improvements in safety culture, behaviours, and operational standards aided by an experienced on site safety adviser.

Role Responsibilities

• Cultural and Workforce Engagement
• Drive the development and implementation of organisational strategies aimed at strengthening SHE culture and workforce engagement, promoting a safe, positive, and high-performing environment.
• Compliance and Assurance
• Lead site audits and inspections to ensure compliance with Denholm policies, procedures, and applicable health and safety standards.
• Management Systems Oversight
• Manage the implementation and maintenance of the Denholm document management system, ensuring full alignment with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 certification requirements.
• Training and Development
• Deliver targeted in-house training sessions for managers and operatives, supporting ongoing professional development and compliance awareness across all levels.
• Procedure and Document Development
• Coordinate with the SHE Adviser(s) under your remit to develop, review, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), toolbox talks, safety alerts, and related SHE documentation, ensuring consistency, clarity, and compliance across all operational activities.
• Specialist SHE Guidance
• Provide expert operational support and guidance on key SHE topics including fire safety, working at height, confined spaces, HAVS, ergonomics, and lone working.
• Lead thorough investigations into accidents, incidents, and near misses. Implement corrective actions, track closure, and ensure lessons learned are communicated and embedded.
• Support the preparation and review of risk assessments, including general RAMS, COSHH assessments, DSE reviews, and other hazard-specific evaluations.
• Performance Reporting
• Create and deliver comprehensive monthly SHEQ presentations for internal leadership meetings and client-facing reviews, clearly communicating key metrics, trends, and improvement actions.
• Leadership Support
• Report directly to the Denholm Industrial Services business unit lead offering strategic input and operational SHE support across all site activities.
• Project Documentation
• Contribute to the development and delivery of project-specific HSE documentation to ensure alignment with scope, operational practices, and regulatory standards.

Skills and Experience

• Proven SHE Leadership – Demonstrated experience in managing Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) responsibilities across large fixed sites or within complex business operations is essential.
• Standards and Compliance – Familiarity with ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 management systems is preferred. Training will be provided where necessary to ensure full understanding and effective implementation.
• Communication – Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate SHE concepts to a wide range of stakeholders, from frontline teams to senior leadership.
• Leadership and Influence – A proactive, self-motivated leader who can engage, inspire, and influence teams in the pursuit of safety excellence.
• IT Proficiency – Competent in the use of Microsoft Office 365 applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
• Sector Experience – Experience in the industrial services, painting, or construction sectors is advantageous, though not essential.
