Job Description

The Role

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is a first-person, action-adventure game developed by Ubisoft in collaboration with Lightstorm Entertainment and Disney. Built using the latest iteration of the Snowdrop engine, and developed exclusively for the new generation of consoles and PC, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora brings to life the alluring world of Pandora with all of its beauty and danger in an immersive, open-world experience.

As an Environment Artist, you are passionate about building amazing worlds for our players to explore. You have an eye for scale, perspective, and detail, and love to bring a story to life through the creation of awe-inspiring environments. Being passionate about your craft, you’ll thrive on conducting in-depth research and receiving and giving constructive feedback through peer review sessions to continuously improve the quality and consistency of your work.

This is an opportunity to work as part of a successful and established team, celebrating one of the largest film franchises in history. You’re the kind of person who understands the importance of collaboration and clear communication. You enjoy seeing your contribution to the bigger picture and sharing your knowledge with your peers.

As our next Environment Artist, you will play an integral part in building out the exciting world of Pandora, communicating the project's vision through tone and style inspired by the project’s narrative and design.

What you'll bring

  • Ability to create interesting, detailed, and visually appealing environments;
  • A portfolio demonstrating a passion for worldbuilding with environment art, showing your ability to develop game-ready environments based on concept art and level design blockout;
  • Good working knowledge of industry-leading 3D modelling packages (such as 3DS Max, Maya, Blender);
  • Good knowledge of level editors;
  • Good understanding of Physically Based Rendering systems;
  • Knowledge of optimisation techniques;
  • Ability to adapt to new processes and pipelines.

Joining Ubisoft means being part of an inclusive global brand. You will build upon your ongoing success and contribute to the production of our games and the development of our people. You’ll have the opportunity to develop and produce exciting world-class AAA games and help showcase our studio as a market leader.

With us, you will find your future in one of the strongest knowledge bases in the games industry, coupled with excellent opportunities for career progression on a critically acclaimed brand portfolio.

What we’ll provide

We prioritize our people’s creativity and wellbeing, which is why we create engaging AAA titles loved worldwide. We value collaboration and a sense of belonging, embracing a hybrid working model that requires our team members to be on-site for an average of 3 days per week, fostering a vibrant and creative work environment.

  • Everything you need to keep your life in balance — hybrid working, flexible core hours, 25 days of annual leave, Christmas shutdown, and a plan that allows you to work from anywhere in the EU for up to four weeks per year;
  • Life insurance, income protection, private healthcare, an annual well-being allowance, and more;
  • Resources for your personal and professional development;
  • Paid volunteering days to support our community;
  • Fun activities, celebrations, and free games;
  • Generous relocation support if needed.

We are committed to positive mental health and wellbeing. As a Gold Employer in the Mind Workplace Wellbeing Index and partners of Safe in Our World, we offer training and resources to support mental health discussions and management.
