Traffic Installation Technician (Entry-Level)

Telent is seeking an Entry-Level Traffic Installation Technician to join our team of Traffic Signals / Traffic Lighting specialists in Plymouth. This is a field-based role requiring a full UK driving license and willingness to travel across the region and work in all weather conditions.

Are you interested in developing hands-on experience in the field? Do you have some electrical installation knowledge or experience? Do you hold an Electrical Engineering (or similar) diploma or certificate and want to start a career in this field? We offer an accredited, structured training program to support your growth.

What you’ll do:

You will work alongside experienced Traffic Engineers to install, maintain, and test Traffic Signals and Lighting units, along with electrical components, primarily in the Gloucestershire region. Training includes on-the-job learning, desk-based, and online modules, progressing towards NVQ Level 2 and 3 in Highways Electrical Installations, as well as sector certifications like ECS and NHSS Chapter 8.

Who you are:

Interested in field-based engineering with some exposure to electrical installations? No experience? No problem! We encourage motivated individuals eager to start a new career to apply.

Key requirements:

  • Motivation and willingness to learn
  • Some electrical installation experience or related qualification
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Good communication skills and computer literacy
  • Willingness to undertake Drugs & Alcohol testing
