This two-stage system involves weaners on straw and finishers on slats, with sows in straw yards and the farrowing house on slats. The unit, renovated in the last ten years, operates a wet feed system throughout, except for the weaners.

The chosen applicant will work alongside existing staff with the day-to-day pig husbandry work, including moving pigs, vaccinating piglets ready for weaning, and ensuring the pigs are fed and watered.

Person specifications:

  • Enthusiasm for pig farming
  • Team player abilities
  • Some livestock experience or an agricultural background
  • High welfare standards
  • Keenness to get involved and learn pig husbandry
  • Good work ethic
