From earthquake and seismic engineering to the latest trenchless technology methods, Kleinfelder's Geotechnical Services support the planning, engineering, and construction of complex projects, and our specialists are leading experts in their fields.

Step into Your New Role

Kleinfelder is currently seeking an ambitious and skilled Entry Level Geotechnical Engineer to join our team supporting work in the northern San Joaquin Valley and beyond.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Perform and develop scopes for field and office tasks (technical and non-technical) and independent analysis.
  • Safely conduct field exploration, sampling, inspection, analysis and technical support under supervision.
  • Coordinate tasks and small projects with guidance and interaction by senior operations/technical staff.
  • Prepare designs, reports and calculations on complex projects for review.

We are looking for someone with the ability to provide quality technical support on commercial, municipal, transportation, energy and water projects.

Strong understanding of the following areas of geotechnical engineering including:

  • geotechnical investigations and soil and rock classification,
  • slope stability analysis,
  • earth retention systems,
  • shallow and deep foundation design,
  • materials testing and engineering,
  • soil improvement techniques, and
  • pavement design.

Minimum requirements:

  • 0-3 years of Geotechnical Engineering consulting experience
  • B.S in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering - M.S. degree preferred
  • EIT is required
  • Must have a positive work attitude and ability to work safely and efficiently when managing multiple tasks
  • Ability to work independently or with a team in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office, Including Word, Excel, and Power Point preferred
  • The successful candidate will have the ability and willingness to travel and perform field work, even under inclement weather and physically demanding conditions.
  • Position will require the candidate to adhere to work assignments/schedules, be self-motivated, organized and have a keen sense of detail.
  • Candidate must be willing to work in addition to a standard 40-hour work week when needed.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure, drilling operations and heavy civil project design and construction are preferred.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Nuclear-gauge certification
  • OSHA 40 hour training

The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the California Pay Transparency Law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience. Salary range: $43,843 - 73,028.
