Enthusiastic Herd Manager - 530 Cows - Newark, Nottinghamshire

Job Summary

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join a successful dairy business milking 530 cows and producing four million litres of high-quality milk for a premium Stilton maker near Newark, Nottinghamshire.

Job Skills

We are looking for a very enthusiastic and versatile Herd Manager to oversee the daily operations of this large dairy unit. The successful candidate will work closely with the herdsman, farm manager, and other staff on the 230-cow spring block-calving grazing system and the 300-cow autumn block-calving system.

Key responsibilities include staff management, overseeing youngstock rearing, ensuring milk quality, fertility planning, grassland management, staff training and mentoring, and business development.

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, positive, and lead by example, maintaining high standards in all tasks.

Experience in team management, milking, grassland management (preferable but not essential), and staff development is required.

You should be ambitious, proactive, and capable of taking and delegating responsibilities to ensure smooth operations.
