Job Description: Entertainment Writer

Our client, a global news platform and publisher, is seeking a trending entertainment writer to join their team.

The role involves creating content focused on trending entertainment news relevant to a UK audience, particularly UK television, celebrities, and movies.

Position Details

• Contract: 12 months
• Hours: 8:30am-5pm, Monday to Friday
• Work Arrangement: Hybrid, with some office presence as needed

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Entertainment News editors, audience team, and front page team to cover trending entertainment moments.
• Utilize social media and search to identify trends around key titles.
• Spot important moments in a live, developing environment using journalistic instincts.
• Create SEO-friendly, accurate, and memorable stories using established content formats.
• Update evergreen content with latest news on TV, film releases, pop culture events, and personalities.

Ideal Candidate

• Deep passion for entertainment and understanding of the UK entertainment landscape.
• Experience in sourcing, writing, and building entertainment content, including unscripted TV.
• Passion for social media trends and interest in presenting on camera.
• Strong understanding of the UK entertainment industry.
• Ability to use SEO tools, keyword research, and audience insights.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Media law training and preferably NCTJ qualification.
