As a Linux Systems Engineer, you will build the infrastructure for our high traffic, high visibility services. You will provide operational support for critical services that enable connected experiences found across Meta. Required Skills:

Enterprise Systems Engineer Responsibilities:

  1. Build, scale, and secure the Linux environment within Meta enterprise infrastructure, a heterogeneous environment containing varied operating systems and applications

  2. Apply modern engineering methodologies such as Infrastructure-as-Code, container orchestration, and software-defined storage

  3. Design & implement systems that are scalable, automated, monitored, and well-documented

  4. Find ways to leverage the scale and complexity of the larger Meta production infrastructure to solve problems for enterprise customers

  5. Lead incident root cause analysis through multiple infrastructure layers (compute, storage, network) and act as a final escalation point

  6. Provide guidance to other engineers on best practices to build mature services which are highly available, reliable, secure, and scalable

  7. Help others around you move faster by identifying issues and driving them to resolution

  8. Influence outcomes within your immediate team, peer engineering teams, and with cross-functional stakeholders

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent experience)

  2. 3+ years experience in systems engineering

  3. 3+ years experience automating the management of infrastructure and services

  4. 3+ years experience working with monitoring and configuration management tools such as Chef, Ansible, Puppet, Saltstack, etc

  5. 3+ years experience coding in at least one of the following languages: Python, Ruby, PHP, Rust, or Go

  6. Thorough understanding of Linux operating system internals

  7. Demonstrated experience identifying opportunities for the org, handing large projects simultaneously, and prioritizing team roadmap and deliverables by balancing required effort with resulting impact
