The role:

We are seeking an experienced and driven Enterprise Risk Leader to join the Risk and Compliance Division. Reporting to the Life, Pension, Platform CRO & Enterprise Risk Director, this role will be instrumental in shaping and maturing our Group-wide risk framework and leading the delivery of key programmes including Risk and Material Controls. The position can be based in either Cirencester or London Paddington.

What you'll be doing:

  • Lead the development and delivery of the Risk and Material Controls Programmes.
  • Design and implement critical components of the Risk Management Framework, including taxonomy, risk appetite, and top risk evaluation processes.
  • Influence senior stakeholders (including GEC and Board) to ensure buy-in and adoption of new frameworks.
  • Ensure alignment between risk framework components and associated systems, policies, and reporting structures.
  • Embed robust control assessment (RCSA), monitoring, and escalation processes in line with SMF responsibilities.
  • Oversee the development of KRIs and risk appetite metrics that support a data-driven risk culture.
  • Collaborate across the Risk and Compliance directorate to ensure frameworks are proportionate, integrated, and effective across the Group.
  • Provide line management and leadership to team members supporting the Risk and Material Controls Programmes.

Who we're looking for:

You’ll be a confident and strategic thinker with deep expertise in enterprise risk and control frameworks, ideally within the financial services or wealth management industry. You’ll have the ability to lead complex programmes, work with a wide range of senior stakeholders, and ensure robust and commercial solutions are implemented and embedded effectively. You’ll bring a collaborative and influential style, backed by technical excellence and a clear understanding of SJP’s business model and regulatory landscape.

Skills & Experience:

  • Expert knowledge and practical experience in designing and embedding enterprise risk frameworks and control processes.
  • Proven track record of leading risk or compliance functions within financial services.
  • Demonstrable experience working within or across 1st and 2nd line risk functions, using the three lines of defence model.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including experience influencing at executive and board level.
  • Proven leadership and team management experience, including line management responsibilities.
  • Externally recognised qualifications in risk management (IRM, PRM, FRM).
  • Experience in the design or delivery of Material Controls Programmes aligned to the UK Corporate Governance Code.
  • Familiarity with regulated entities and intra-group arrangements in a complex financial services group.
