Barclays UK in Northampton is seeking an Enterprise Data Platforms (EDP) Data Modeler to design, implement and maintain conceptual, logical and physical data models that support business, regulatory and analytical needs across the enterprise.

You will translate requirements into scalable data models, maintain data dictionaries, and contribute to architecture strategy, metadata management, and data quality initiatives in a global organisation.

Qualifications

  • Understanding of Finance Data Classes and related concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Translate business requirements into data models aligned with organisational goals.
  • Develop and maintain data dictionaries and glossaries to define data elements and their usage.
  • Monitor data usage patterns to identify opportunities for data optimisation in partnership with the DBA.
  • Define strategic architecture and product selection for data platforms.
  • Produce logical designs showing processes, data flows, inputs and outputs with identified components.
  • Identify and resolve design related issues and document data architecture standards.

We’re looking for an experienced data professional with a passion for creating scalable, high-quality data models that support critical business, regulatory and analytical capabilities.

Key Experience
  • Expert conceptual, logical and physical data modelling with experience implementing at enterprise scale.
  • Solid experience with metadata management toolsets, such as ER Studio, Erwin or equivalent.
  • Solid understanding of Finance Data Classes, including awareness of key data concepts across financial asset classes.
Highly Valued Skills
  • Knowledge of financial services data governance and regulatory frameworks, such as BCBS 239.
  • Experience working with cloud-based data platforms and modern data architectures.
  • Familiarity with data lineage, data quality and master data management (MDM) practices.

This role is based in Northampton.

Purpose of the Role

To design, implement, and maintain conceptual, Logical and Physical data models that meet business data/process and technology requirements, by using designs and data strategies across a wide selection of platforms.

Accountabilities
  • Analysis and documentation of business requirements to translate them into data models aligned with organisational goals.
  • Development and maintenance of data dictionaries and glossaries to define data elements and their usage.
  • Analysis and monitoring of data usage patterns to identify opportunities for data optimisation and improvement, in partnership with the Data Base Administrator.
  • Strategic architecture definition and product selection.
  • Production of logical designs in relevant subject area (technical, data, operational), showing for example: processes, objects, data flows, inputs, stored data and outputs. Identifying common components.
  • Implementation of architectures and Identification, ownership and resolution of design related issues.
  • Definition and documentation of data architectures standards, principles and strategies.

Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the organisation functions to contribute to achieving the goals of the business. Collaborate with other areas of work, for business aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategies. Create solutions based on sophisticated analytical thought comparing and selecting complex alternatives. In-depth analysis with interpretative thinking will be required to define problems and develop innovative solutions. Adopt and include the outcomes of extensive research in problem solving processes. Seek out, build and maintain trusting relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders in order to accomplish key business objectives, using influencing and negotiating skills to achieve outcomes.
