If you enjoy developing data strategy, we would love to hear from you!

We are recruiting for a forward-thinking Enterprise Data Architect to join our innovative team and our phenomenal journey to drive the data agenda at Aviva.

At Aviva, we are on an exciting mission to make things simpler for our customers and our people, by building an excellent service that’s low on customer effort and high on customer satisfaction. Data is at the heart of this mission, and we need Architects like you to truly get involved and craft our vision for data and help turn it into reality!

A bit about the job:

This role will sit within Data Architecture, which is part of the wider Group Architecture function. You will work to build Aviva's Customer & Market data strategy to deliver a competitive data advantage by providing views, designs, and leadership needed to ensure that customer insights, responsiveness, and marketability can be leveraged across the group.

This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills, as you will lead the roadmap, define data products, and advise on their efficient utilization. You will engage with senior leadership to convey data opportunities, support data innovation, and guide prioritization to achieve optimal business outcomes.

Aviva operates a “smart working” policy, meaning that we spend approximately half of our time working in the office. This role is based in Bristol, York, Norwich, or London.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • Experience in developing data architecture strategy and execution in large organizations, preferably within Financial Services, with Martech/Customer Data Platforms being an advantage.
  • Proven track record of defining data roadmaps with a 5-10 year horizon, balancing known and anticipated business needs with simplification.
  • Strong decision-making skills considering multiple factors, including balancing short-term value with long-term sustainability.
  • Excellent influencing skills and relationship-building, with adaptable communication tailored to the audience.
  • Expertise in data lifecycle, technologies, patterns, domain-driven design, analytics, machine learning, data management, integration, warehousing, NoSQL, data quality, metadata, and compliance.
  • Specific expertise in delivering Martech/CDP platform strategies, including customer data resolution, 360° customer data delivery, marketing, campaign integration, and GDPR compliance.
  • Industry awareness of data strategies, trends, and technologies; Snowflake experience and certification would be advantageous, along with knowledge of AWS, Salesforce, and Adobe Experience Cloud.

What you’ll get for this role:

  • Our purpose - with you today, for a better tomorrow – is a promise we make to our colleagues. We invest in you and offer numerous benefits.
  • Salary: circa £90,000 nationally and circa £120,000 in London, depending on skills and experience.
  • Bonus: 12% of annual salary, performance-dependent.
  • Generous pension scheme: Up to 14% contribution from Aviva.
  • 29 days holiday plus bank holidays, with options to buy or sell up to 5 days.
  • Discounts on Aviva products and other retailers, up to 40%.
  • Up to £1,200 of free Aviva shares annually through our Matching Share Plan and Save As You Earn scheme.
  • Supportive policies including parental and carer’s leave.
  • Flexible benefits, including sustainability options like cycle to work.
  • Paid volunteering days to support community engagement.
  • Wellbeing support and tools.
