The Cheshire West and Chester Council Digital, Data and Technology (DDAT) department has recently undergone a significant transformation and is seeking an Enterprise Architect to oversee security design across the Council’s Digital, Data, and Technology architecture, projects, and solutions to support our business.

Our DDAT department is looking to recruit an experienced and motivated Enterprise Architect to act as the lead specialist, translating the Council’s strategic priorities into digital business change and technical delivery. The role involves setting strategic direction and digital architecture principles for the Council and managing the architecture team to ensure effective design of all technology architecture aspects, including solutions, hosting, networks, and security.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a newly created, progressive team with ambitious goals. This role is a Grade 14, offering a salary range of £62,080 - £68,657 (as of April 2024). The closing date for applications is midnight on 3rd August 2025.

Role responsibilities include:

  1. Leading, inspiring, and motivating the architectural service team, driving innovation, and supporting excellence within the Digital, Data, and Technology service.
  2. Ensuring that the Enterprise Architecture and standards support the implementation of the Council’s Corporate, Digital, and Data strategies.
  3. Developing and maintaining the enterprise architecture vision, strategy, standards, and roadmaps from business, technology, and data perspectives, including current, future, and transitional states.
  4. Leading and influencing the delivery of cross-cutting digital capabilities that enable change.
  5. Understanding the Council’s business and technology environment, its interdependencies, and taking a strategic view across all architectural domains, portfolios, and programmes.
  6. Maintaining high-level peer contacts and building strong collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to understand business needs and solutions strategies.
  7. Promoting the visibility, communication, and understanding of the Enterprise Architecture within the organization and with external partners.
  8. Working closely with the Data Insights Lead to ensure alignment of the Data Strategy and Architecture with the overall Enterprise Architecture.

The ideal candidate will have a degree or equivalent qualification, along with a post-graduate ICT/DDAT qualification and extensive professional experience in the ICT/DDAT sector. Experience should include designing progressive business application solutions, digital capabilities for complex organizations, enterprise data solutions, master data management, data integration, BI & analytics, content management, and data platforms. Leadership experience in managing and developing teams is essential.
