Enhanced Role Pharmacy Technician - ePMA Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust

This is a key role within our organisation and an exciting time to join Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust as we embark on our ePMA journey. The post holder will act as a specialist technician, providing technical support, configuration, testing expertise, and superuser status for the Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration System(s) (ePMAs) used at WHT to meet the needs of the Trust.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Senior Pharmacy Technician ePMA in the technical aspects of the development and implementation of the ePMA system (including software and hardware).
  • Collaborate with IT and other partners to ensure the ePMA system supports medicines optimisation initiatives.
  • Assist in training staff across the Trust on ePMA use.
  • Support the implementation, maintenance, and development of the ePMA system, working closely with the Pharmacy ePMA team and Trust project team.
  • Maintain and update drug template files, ensuring clinical accuracy and reproducibility.
  • Troubleshoot user issues and facilitate training as needed.
  • Enhance digital literacy among Pharmacy staff in preparation for ePMA rollout.
  • Liaise with multidisciplinary teams to promote effective ePMA use.
  • Test business continuity plans.
  • Generate reports on prescribing and administration data for clinical review and auditing.
