Job Title: English Tutor Post 16
Location: Carlisle
Salary Range: £110 - £175 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start: Immediate
Contract: Daily Supply, Long-Term

GSL Education are seeking a committed and inspiring Post-16 English Tutor in Carlisle to support learners in achieving their English qualifications and building essential literacy skills for life, work, and further education. This role is ideal for a tutor or educator who thrives on helping students who need extra support, particularly those working towards GCSE re-sits or Functional Skills.

As a Post-16 English Tutor, you will work with small groups or individuals to deliver tailored English lessons that address gaps in knowledge and promote confidence in reading, writing, and communication.

Responsibilities:

• Support Individual Learning: Help implement personalised learning plans.
• Provide Targeted Support: Offer 1:1 and small group assistance tailored to student needs.
• Monitor Progress: Track student development and adjust support as required.
• Collaborate with Staff and Families: Work closely with teachers, support teams, and parents/carers.
• Create a Positive Environment: Help build a space where students feel safe, respected, and encouraged.
• Engage Learners: Use a variety of strategies to maintain student interest and adapt to different learning styles.
• Keep Accurate Records: Maintain documentation of student progress and share insights with staff.

Requirements:

• Confident communicator with students, staff, and families.
• Strong subject knowledge in English Language (GCSE level or equivalent).
• Previous experience teaching or tutoring post-16 learners is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, adaptability, and a learner-focused approach.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply.
• Competitive daily rates of £110 - £175 (dependent on experience).
• Supportive consultancy from a friendly, experienced team who are with you every step of the way.
