We deliver services for the Department for Work and Pensions, Department for Education, ESFA, NHS and many local authorities. We also deliver community projects for Children in Need, The National Lottery, Shine and more.

It’s an exciting time to join us. We have big ambitions to grow to provide space and support to help people thrive – through gaining confidence, progress into school, college, university, or work – whatever the goal. And have exciting plans in place to get there.

As a English Tutor, a typical day might include:

  • Delivering English GCSE and Functional Skills to our Flare learners (16-18y/o) and to our adult learners
  • Delivering community English based courses to our adult learners to re-engage people back into English
  • Developing skills and expertise within your area of specialism, to offer more for our learners.
  • Contributing to curriculum development across your subject areas of expertise, bringing innovation, energy and excitement to both the subject matter and our style of teaching to help our learners thrive.
  • Owning your learners end to end – ensuring attendance, achievement and progression, in all courses and programmes. This may include 1-2-1 sessions with those learners who need additional support.
  • Supporting recruitment across all our programmes, not just the courses you deliver, working with the engagement team to ensure progression targets are met following completion on your course.
  • Being responsible for Quality Assurance of your teaching to ensure our customers receive the best service possible.
  • Welcoming people from across the team into the teaching setting to observe learning, get involved and help learners achieve.
  • Planning, preparing, delivering and evaluating all the courses you lead.
  • Preparing plans, schemes of work and learning materials for each session, making them available for monitoring or lesson observation visits and maintaining them.
  • Completing learner records and monitoring reports in line with programme requirements, marking and assessing learners’ work, monitoring their progress to ensure our learners are prepared for exams and/or course accreditation.
  • developing links with partners and employers in order to develop new opportunities for learners
  • identifying progression opportunities - further learning, apprenticeships or employment for all learners
  • Ensuring that learners complete all admin documentation including enrolment forms and learner feedback.

What we need to consider your application:

  • Teaching qualification appropriate for working in Post 16 Sector and Adult Learning Sector, and/or willingness to undergo further training – preferably PGCE/Cert Ed/QTS
  • L3 Award in Education and Training (formerly PTLLS) or the equivalent would be considered an advantage for an applicant without a formal qualification.
  • English qualification (to at least Level 4 equivalent), or an in-depth knowledge and substantial experience in the subject area.
  • Full awareness of the needs of underachieving and disengaged young people and to develop strategies to engage them
  • A willingness and ability to deliver a range of courses beyond your primary area of expertise with an enthusiasm to develop your skills to adapt our delivery to needs of our learners.
  • Experience of teaching/training or working with groups of adults in appropriate field.
  • An understanding of the principles underpinning teaching adults, i.e. planning, delivery, assessment and evaluation of learning.
  • An awareness of different learning strategies and teaching methods suitable for teaching a diverse range of abilities.
  • Effective oral and written communication, numeracy and interpersonal qualifications & skills to communicate effectively with staff and learners alike
  • A commitment and ability to comply with Equality & Diversity, Health & Safety policies, etc and our safer recruitment approach.

What will make you stand out form the crowd, but is not essential:
