Job summary

Dovetail & Slate Ltd in the West Midlands is seeking an English Teacher to plan and deliver engaging English lessons for learners across abilities. You will support learners to develop reading, writing and communication skills and help them achieve English qualifications required to progress.

Your role involves planning engaging lessons, adapting to learner needs, assessing progress, and preparing students for exams while maintaining an inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Qualified teacher with a recognised credential (QTS/QT LS/PGCE/Cert Ed/DET).
• Experience teaching English in Further Education or similar setting.
• Strong English subject knowledge and classroom management.

Responsibilities

About the Role

You’ll join an education provider as an English Teacher, planning and delivering English lessons to learners working across a range of abilities. You’ll support learners to build their confidence in reading, writing and communication, and to achieve the English qualifications they need to progress.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Planning and delivering engaging English lessons.
• Adapting your teaching to meet individual learner needs.
• Assessing, monitoring and tracking learner progress.
• Preparing learners for their English assessments and examinations.
• Maintaining a positive, inclusive learning environment.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues and support staff.

What We're Looking For

• A recognised teaching qualification such as QTS, QTLS, PGCE, Cert Ed or DET
• Experience teaching English
• Strong English subject knowledge
• Confident classroom and behaviour management
• Enhanced DBS, or willingness to obtain one

Desirable (but not essential):

• Experience teaching GCSE and/or Functional Skills English
• Experience supporting learners with additional needs
• Experience of working with resit learners
