Job summary

An urban academy in Manchester is seeking a committed English Teacher who can engage pupils from diverse backgrounds and help them reach their potential. This full-time, temporary-to-permanent position offers progression through the MPS/UPS scales dependent on experience.

You will teach English language and literature to KS3–KS4, deliver structured lessons, prepare pupils for GCSEs, use assessments, and collaborate with pastoral colleagues to support attendance and behaviour.

Qualifications

• Holds QTS or an equivalent recognised qualification.
• Has a positive, resilient approach to classroom teaching.
• Can establish clear routines and maintain purposeful lessons.
• Is committed to inclusion and helping pupils build confidence in English.

Responsibilities

• Teach English language and literature to KS3 and KS4 classes.
• Deliver structured lessons that develop reading, writing and analytical skills.
• Prepare pupils for GCSE assessments and examinations.
• Use regular assessment to identify pupils who need additional support or challenge.
• Work closely with pastoral colleagues to promote attendance, engagement and positive behaviour.
