Job Title:

Full-Time Private English Tutor & Life Mentor - Based in Japan (Fukuoka)

Location:

Fukuoka, Japan - with occasional international travel (Europe, China, Korea, Singapore)

Start Date:

ASAP (Visa sponsorship provided - estimated 2-3 month approval process)

Overview:

An esteemed family originally from China, now based in Fukuoka, Japan, is seeking a highly qualified, native English-speaking tutor to support their children's education and personal development.

The ideal candidate will be an exceptional role model with academic and personal excellence, capable of teaching English (speaking, reading, and writing), guiding life skills, and helping shape their development into confident, future-ready individuals.

This is a full-time, long-term position with generous compensation and exceptional benefits, working in a collaborative environment alongside a secondary tutor and a supportive family.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily English tutoring in speaking, writing, reading, and conversational practice (5-9 hours per day, depending on schedule).
  • Deliver engaging lessons appropriate to beginner-level English learners who are fluent in Mandarin and speak basic Japanese.
  • Mentor the children in:
  • Study habits and academic methodology
  • Logical reasoning and critical thinking
  • Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Confidence building and personal growth
  • Plan educational and conversational outings (e.g., museum visits, cultural tours, local sightseeing) as part of immersive learning.
  • Work collaboratively with an agency-appointed secondary tutor who will help monitor progress and approve teaching materials.
  • Travel internationally with the family during holidays (August and December/January); all travel, accommodation, and meals covered.
  • Foster a warm, elite, structured learning environment aimed at preparing the children for future leadership roles in the family business.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Native English speaker, ideally from the UK or US (for visa eligibility).
  • Graduate from a Top 20 global university (e.g., Oxford, Cambridge, Ivy League, etc.).
  • Strong academic background with a passion for teaching and mentoring children.
  • Experience working with children or teens at beginner English levels.
  • Patient, inspiring, emotionally intelligent, and highly reliable.
  • A natural leader and role model who can instil values of discipline, curiosity, and ambition.
  • Willingness to relocate to Japan and travel internationally.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multicultural household.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Monthly Salary: USD $8,000-$14,000, negotiable based on experience and performance. Higher packages may be offered for exceptional candidates.
  • Accommodation: Private room provided in the family's Fukuoka villa.
  • Meals: Fresh meals prepared daily by a personal chef.
  • Transport: Chauffeur service available for all local travel needs.
  • Holidays: 10 days annual leave after 6 months of work (with the option to increase over time).
  • Visa Support: Full sponsorship for a Japanese Work Permit.
  • Contract: Initial one-year contract with intention to extend long-term as the children progress through school and beyond.
  • Collaborative support: Secondary tutor in place to help structure and supervise initial learning phases.
