We are currently seeking a dedicated and resilient English Teacher with experience in SEN and PRU settings to join a specialist provision in Chesterfield. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students who require additional support in their learning.

The Role:
We are looking for a confident and committed English Teacher to deliver engaging and accessible lessons to students with a range of social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, as well as other special educational needs. This temporary role has the potential to become permanent for the right candidate. You ll be joining a supportive team that prioritises student wellbeing and individual progress.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver differentiated English lessons tailored to individual student needs and abilities.

  • Support students with SEN and behavioural needs, promoting engagement and positive progress.

  • Create a safe, inclusive, and structured classroom environment.

  • Work collaboratively with support staff, SENCOs, and external agencies.

  • Track student progress and adapt learning plans as needed.

  • Support behaviour management strategies and maintain high expectations for behaviour and learning.

Minimum Requirements:
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Experience: At least 1 2 years teaching English, with proven experience in SEN, SEMH, or PRU environments.

  • Qualifications: A relevant degree in English or related subject and UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

  • Training: Strong understanding of SEN teaching strategies, behaviour management, and safeguarding procedures.

  • Skills: Empathy, adaptability, and excellent communication skills.

  • Safeguarding: All applicants must undergo an enhanced DBS check (Child Workforce) prior to working if not already in possession of one that is registered to the update service. The cost of a DBS would be put forward to the applicant. Link3 Recruitment is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Desirable Criteria:
To be considered for the higher end of the salary range, candidates should demonstrate:

  • Extensive experience working in PRU or alternative provision settings.

  • Training in Team Teach, de-escalation techniques, or trauma-informed practice.

  • Evidence of strong pupil progress and positive outcomes in previous SEN roles.

  • Commitment to CPD and a reflective approach to teaching practice.

Location:
This role is based in Chesterfield, within a specialist setting that supports young people with complex needs. The school is accessible via public transport and offers a supportive and collaborative working environment.
