A full-time English Teacher is required from September 2025 to cover a maternity leave at a well-regarded, mixed comprehensive Secondary School in Warrington.

This maternity position is offered on a 12-month fixed-term contract, with the potential for extension depending on staffing needs.

  • Start Date: September 2025
  • Contract Type: Full-time maternity cover (12 months)
  • Pay: In line with the teacher pay scale (MPS1–UPS3: £31,650 – £49,804, dependent on experience/responsibilities of the role)
  • Teaching: Full English timetable across KS3 and KS4, up to GCSE
  • Interviews: To be held in the summer term
  • £200 Golden Handshake bonus when you complete your first 10 days through us (T&Cs apply)

The school welcomes applications from both experienced English teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs). The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic practitioner who can deliver engaging, curriculum-aligned lessons, manage classroom behaviour effectively, and inspire students to exceed expectations in English Language and Literature.

The successful candidate will:

  • Take full responsibility for a teaching timetable (including planning and marking)
  • Contribute to departmental planning and collaborative best practice
  • Deliver lessons that engage and challenge students of all abilities
  • Be committed to raising standards in literacy across the school
