We are recruiting for an ambitious, passionate subject specialist to deliver the curriculum to our KS3 and KS4 pupils. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional to join us who will bring high expectations within teaching and learning; a secure knowledge of the national curriculum for English and someone who has experience of delivering range of accreditations in English at KS4.

Within the role of English teacher, we are looking for someone who can:

  • Develop and implement high-quality teaching and learning strategies in their own classroom.

  • Collaborate with colleagues, ensuring excellent professional development opportunities.

  • Enhance student outcomes, driving engagement and achievement across KS3 and 4

  • Champion our diverse curriculum, ensuring our students experience a broad, balanced, and rigorous English education which meets their needs and experiences.

  • Share our belief that reading, writing, and oracy are at the heart of learning for our pupils.

The English Department

We have a strong and collaborative team of six primary teachers and two English specialists in KS3/4 which includes a mix of experience and a wealth of knowledge.

At Ashbrooke, there is a clear and well-established vision for the department, balancing the skills experience with students needs an abilities to promote engagement, skills and a life-long love of English.

We have a school-wide focus on evidence-based teaching and learning, with an emphasis on trauma-informed practice and personalisation.

There's lots of ups and downs, and to some of our young people, sitting through a lesson can be a big win. You'll be there to help them learn, develop their abilities and raise their self-esteem.
