Job description

English Teacher
Location:Northwich, Cheshire, UK
Job Type: Full-time (Long-term or Permanent roles available)
Salary: £31,650 - £41,333 (dependent on experience)

Are you an enthusiastic and dedicated English Teacher looking for an exciting new opportunity? Whether you are an experienced educator seeking a fresh challenge or a newly qualified teacher eager to embark on your teaching career, Simply Education invites you to become part of our dynamic team in Cheshire.

We have both long-term and permanent positions available within our Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) provisions across Cheshire. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students who require tailored support to succeed academically and personally.

Role Overview:

As an English Teacher at Simply Education, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and inspiring lessons in both English Language and Literature across multiple key stages. You will work with small class sizes, typically around eight students, each with an individual healthcare plan outlining their specific needs and current learning levels. A dedicated teaching assistant will support you in creating a positive and effective learning environment.

Teaching in a specialist provision requires a highly adaptable and compassionate approach. You will tailor your lessons to meet the individual needs of students who may have complex learning difficulties, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, or emotional and behavioural challenges. To ensure all students can access the curriculum effectively, you will employ a variety of teaching strategies, including sensory-based learning and differentiated instruction.

Additionally, you will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including therapists, SEN coordinators, and support staff, to develop and implement personalised learning plans. Beyond academic instruction, your role will focus on fostering emotional resilience, communication skills, and self-confidence in students who may have previously struggled in mainstream education settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality lessons in English Language and Literature, adapting content to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Establish and maintain a structured, engaging, and supportive classroom environment with clear behavioural expectations.
  • Inspire a ‘can-do’ attitude among students, encouraging them to develop confidence and independence in their learning.
  • Design dynamic and creative lessons that promote active participation, critical thinking, and a love for English.
  • Implement alternative teaching strategies to support students with additional learning needs.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and other staff members to support student development.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with experience teaching English Language and Literature.
  • Experience working within SEN or SEMH settings is desirable but not essential.
  • A passion for working with students with special educational needs and a commitment to their academic and personal growth.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • A creative and flexible approach to teaching, ensuring lessons are accessible and engaging for all learners.
  • Dedication to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment where every student feels valued and empowered.
  • Competitive salary package.
  • Opportunities for professional development and career progression.
  • Supportive and collaborative working environment with a dedicated leadership team.
  • Small class sizes, allowing for a more personalised teaching approach.
  • Access to ongoing training opportunities.
  • A fulfilling role where you can make a tangible difference in the lives of students with special educational needs.

If you are a passionate and motivated English Teacher committed to supporting students who have disengaged from their education, we would love to hear from you!
