Job Title: English Teacher

Start Date: November 2025

Salary: £168-£232 per day

TeacherActive is working with a well-known mainstream secondary school with a strong reputation in the Kimberley area, Notts. The school have high aspirations and offer fantastic support to all of its staff.

The school is looking to take on an English teacher starting in November 2025 on a long-term maternity contract. The successful applicant will be working across both Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, including exam preparation for GCSEs. This role will also include some Drama lessons. The role will be paramount in helping students achieve excellent results in the subject, whilst following and implementing the schemes of learning.

Responsibilities

• Teach English across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, including GCSE exam preparation.
• Deliver some Drama lessons as part of the timetable.
• Help students achieve excellent results in English by following and implementing the schemes of learning.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Graduate with qualified teacher status (QTS).
• Outstanding English teacher with a strong teaching record.
• Relevant qualifications (formal and/or through appropriate experience) to meet the challenge of the appointment.
• Excellent in-depth knowledge of the English curriculum and its place in the development of young people, and of its place within the wider curriculum.
• Understanding of the importance of a rigorous reading strategy to ensure students' confidence and reading fluency.
