Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full-time, fixed-term (2-term maternity cover)
Pay: £32,916–£51,047 per annum (MPS–UPS)

Teaching Personnel are supporting a well-established and oversubscribed secondary school in the High Peak area in appointing a motivated and enthusiastic English Teacher to cover a maternity leave beginning in September. The school has a strong focus on English and literacy, with pupils achieving consistently strong results at GCSE.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who wants to join a supportive department with access to excellent resources, leadership support, and opportunities for collaborative planning and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach English Language and Literature across Key Stages 3 and 4

  • Plan and deliver high-quality lessons tailored to a range of abilities

  • Prepare students for GCSE assessments, including mock exams and coursework

  • Mark and assess student work in line with school and national guidelines

  • Attend departmental meetings and contribute to continuous curriculum development

Person Specification:

  • QTS/QTLS and recent classroom experience teaching English at secondary level

  • Deep knowledge of GCSE specifications and assessment methods

  • Effective classroom management and strong rapport-building with pupils

  • A positive and proactive attitude toward teaching and learning

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative department

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
