Job description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated English Teacher to join a vibrant and supportive English department. The successful candidate will teach English Language and Literature across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the possibility of Key Stage 5 depending on experience. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire a love of reading, writing, and critical thinking in young learners. Beginning September 2025.

Duties as an English Teacher:

1. Plan and deliver engaging and inclusive English lessons in line with the national curriculum
2. Promote high standards of literacy, oracy, and analytical skills
3. Assess, monitor, and report on pupil progress
4. Contribute to curriculum development and collaborative planning within the department
5. Support extra-curricular activities such as reading clubs, competitions, and school productions
6. Uphold high expectations of behaviour, effort, and achievement

Minimum Requirements:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• A degree in English or a related subject
• Experience teaching English at secondary level (ECTs welcome to apply)
• Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for literature and language
• Strong communication and classroom management skills
• A commitment to safeguarding and the wellbeing of pupils
