Job description

Are you passionate about literature, language, and unlocking students’ potential through the power of words? We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic English Teacher to join a dynamic and supportive English department.

You will teach English across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the opportunity to teach Key Stage 5 (A-Level English Language and/or Literature) depending on experience. You’ll inspire students to explore classic and contemporary texts, develop their writing, and express themselves confidently and creatively. Beginning September 2025.

Duties as an English Teacher:

1. Deliver engaging and differentiated English lessons that meet the needs of all learners
2. Prepare students for GCSE and (where applicable) A-Level assessments
3. Promote literacy, critical thinking, and a love of reading across the school
4. Mark and assess student work in line with school policies
5. Contribute to curriculum planning, departmental CPD, and enrichment activities (e.g., book clubs, creative writing, debating)
6. Maintain high standards of behaviour and engagement in the classroom

Minimum qualifications and skills:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• A degree in English, English Literature, or a related subject
• Strong knowledge of the English curriculum and assessment frameworks
• Excellent classroom management and communication skills
• A passion for literature, language, and helping students succeed
• A commitment to inclusive education and reflective practice
