Job description

Are you a passionate and dedicated English Teacher looking to make a meaningful impact in the lives of children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? We are seeking a committed and resilient educator to join our specialist team, delivering engaging and supportive English lessons to students who require additional emotional and behavioral support.

Responsibilities:
  • Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality English lessons tailored to the needs of students with SEMH difficulties.

  • Create a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment where students feel safe, supported, and encouraged to engage in learning.

  • Differentiate teaching strategies to accommodate various learning styles and emotional needs.

  • Provide pastoral support and use positive behavior management strategies to promote emotional resilience and self-confidence.

  • Build strong relationships with students, families, and external professionals to support holistic development.

  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and contribute to review meetings and reports.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.

  • Experience working with students with SEMH needs or in alternative provisions is highly desirable.

  • A patient, compassionate, and adaptable teaching style.

  • Able to teach another subject such as humanities.

  • Strong classroom and behavior management skills, with an emphasis on positive reinforcement.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and safeguarding best practices.
