English Teacher - North London - September 2025
Full time. Permanent. Suitable for experienced teachers or ECTs.
A highly regarded secondary school in North London is seeking a committed and reflective English Teacher to join its outstanding English department from September 2025. This is a full time, permanent position ideal for someone who believes in the power of language to shape lives and wants to work somewhere that treats English as the heart of the curriculum.
This is a role for a qualified English Teacher with experience in secondary schools. EAL, TEFL and primary backgrounds will not be considered unless they include full QTS and recent experience of the UK secondary curriculum.
What makes this role different?
This school does not just teach English. It champions it. The department places equal value on analytical depth and creative expression, encouraging students to question, explore and write with clarity and confidence. There is a strong belief that English builds the cultural capital and critical thinking students need to navigate their world.
Pupils read ambitious texts from Year 7 onwards, and staff are trusted to lead deep conversations about character, structure, theme and voice. This is a department where teachers routinely share academic articles, debate interpretations, and support each other in making the subject vibrant and challenging. At Key Stage 4, outcomes are consistently high. At Key Stage 5, students engage with texts in ways that mirror undergraduate study.
Why this school?
This is a values-driven environment with high expectations, calm behaviour and a culture built on mutual respect. Staff wellbeing is actively prioritised.
