Are you a dynamic and inspiring English teacher with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)? Do you possess a passion for literature, language, and fostering a love of communication in young people? If so, an exciting opportunity awaits you at our thriving secondary school in Derby!

As a QTS English Teacher, your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning, preparing, and delivering engaging and differentiated English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and potentially Key Stage 5, depending on your experience and the school's needs).
  • Cultivating a stimulating and inclusive learning environment that encourages active participation, creativity, and critical analysis.
  • Utilizing a diverse range of teaching methodologies and resources to cater to various learning styles and ensure all students achieve their full potential.
  • Assessing, recording, and reporting on student progress in accordance with school policies.
  • Contributing to the development and enhancement of the English curriculum and resources.
  • Collaborating effectively with colleagues within the English department and across the school.
  • Maintaining high standards of classroom management and promoting positive student behaviour.
  • Contributing to the wider life of the school through extracurricular activities or pastoral support (desirable).

What We Are Looking For:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
  • A strong degree in English Language, English Literature, or a related field.
  • A deep passion for the English language and literature, with the ability to inspire and motivate students.
  • Proven experience in planning and delivering effective and engaging English lessons.
  • Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive and productive learning atmosphere.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • The ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and a desire to stay abreast of current educational best practices.
