Job description

We are seeking a passionate and inspiring English Teacher to join our dedicated English department. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality teaching across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, fostering a love of literature and language while helping students develop the literacy and communication skills essential for their future success. Beginning September 2025.

Duties as an English Teacher:

  • Teach English Language and Literature across KS3 and KS4 (and KS5 if applicable).

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons that challenge and motivate students of all abilities.

  • Assess, monitor, and report on student progress using both formative and summative approaches.

  • Prepare students for internal and external assessments, including GCSEs and/or A-levels.

  • Promote a love of reading, writing, and discussion both in and outside the classroom.

  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour, effort, and achievement.

  • Contribute to the development of the English curriculum and departmental resources.

  • Participate in extra-curricular activities such as literacy clubs, theatre trips, and writing competitions.

  • Uphold school safeguarding procedures and promote student welfare.

Ideal English Teacher:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.

  • Have a degree in English or a related subject.

  • Demonstrate strong subject knowledge and a genuine enthusiasm for English.

  • Be an excellent communicator and reflective classroom practitioner.

  • Have high expectations for all students and a commitment to inclusive education.

  • Be a collaborative team player who values professional development as an English Teacher.
