Agence France-Presse seeks a dynamic video journalist based in London to engage young audiences on YouTube. Responsibilities include producing and curating content, translating materials from French, and ensuring high editorial standards. Candidates must demonstrate strong video editing skills and be familiar with social media environments. This position is integral to AFP’s visual storytelling and adheres to the Agency’s ethical guidelines.
Deadline for applications: June 22, 2025
Location: London, United Kingdom
We are looking for a highly-motivated journalist with native-level English to produce exciting video formats aimed at young audiences on social media, notably YouTube.
Using mainly AFP's video, photo and graphics production, you will play an active role in suggesting angles and stories for both horizontal and vertical videos that show off the best of AFP's visual output. The job requires careful editing and lively narration that is suited to audiences on social media: human angles, concrete and explanatory journalism offering solutions. You know how to spot trending themes, topics and angles and are familiar with the social media environment in general.
You will be in charge of curating AFP’s English YouTube channel, producing in-depth explainers and managing live feeds. The position also entails keeping track of audience trends and showcasing AFP video content posted daily on YouTube, in line with the platform's style and abiding by the strategy and best practices developed by the AFP social media video team. You may also be asked to manage feedback from users on YouTube and other networks in coordination with other members of AFP's social media team.
The position is based in London, but you will work in close cooperation with the digital team based in Paris, often translating videos produced in French.
You will ensure the reliability of the information in compliance with the Agency's editorial rules, as well as the editorial quality of the videos produced, taking into account the rules on user generated content and image rights.
You will closely monitor social media and strictly adhere to the Agency's guidelines on social media activity. You commit to respecting AFP's ethics charter as well as the editorial guidelines and the Agency's style guide.
The role may require unsociable hours, dictated by the news agenda. You may occasionally shoot videos.
Your duties may evolve, depending on AFP's needs.
