Job summary

The Methodist Church in Britain seeks a dedicated full-time tutor to deliver English and maths sessions for learners aged 16 to 24, from Entry Level to GCSE. The role includes RARPA-based non-accredited programmes and travel between sites as needed.

You will build learners' skills and independence, recognising starting points and promoting meaningful progress through active learning and strong relationships.

Qualifications

• Teaching qualification or relevant vocational experience and subject knowledge with willingness to train.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to motivate and engage learners.
• Effective behaviour management skills.
• Positive, solutions-focused mindset with a can-do attitude.
• Passion for helping young people succeed.
• Ability to converse at ease and give advice in accurate spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Deliver English and maths sessions to young people aged 16 to 24.
• Deliver qualifications from Entry Level through to GCSE.
• Deliver RARPA-based non-accredited programmes.
• Build learners' skills, confidence and independence for adulthood, further learning and employment.
• Recognise each learner's starting point and support them to make meaningful progress.
• Use active learning and build strong relationships with learners.
• Willing to travel to other sites when required.
