Job summary

Leeds College of Building is seeking an enthusiastic English Lecturer to deliver GCSE and Functional Skills English to a diverse range of learners, including students, apprentices and adult learners. This is a variable hours role with competitive pay.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality GCSE and Functional Skills English to a diverse range of learners.
  • Support learners including students, apprentices and adults to raise achievement.
  • Contribute to a collaborative cross-college English team and student success.
  • Foster inclusive teaching and remove barriers to learning.

£31.91 - £35.75 per hour (depending on qualifications)

About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed English Lecturer to join our cross-college English team. You will deliver high-quality GCSE and Functional Skills English to a diverse range of learners, including students, apprentices, and adult learners.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a supportive and collaborative team, where there is a clear focus on raising achievement, removing barriers to learning, and helping every student succeed.

We are seeking someone who is:

  • Passionate about teaching and committed to improving student outcomes
  • Skilled in teaching both GCSE English Language and Functional Skills
  • Confident working with post-16 learners of mixed ability
  • Able to build strong relationships and motivate learners to succeed
  • Highly organised, proactive, and collaborative
Essential Requirements
  • A minimum Level 3 (or above) qualification in English or a related subject
  • Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS or equivalent)
  • GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent)
  • Experience of delivering GCSE and Functional Skills English in an FE setting
