The Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced English Lecturer to join a dynamic and forward-thinking team. The successful candidate will be passionate about education and confident in delivering both English GCSE & Functional Skills. Your role will be key in helping students gain essential qualifications for progression to further study, apprenticeships, or employment.

Key Responsibilities:

· Plan and deliver high-quality and engaging lessons in GCSE and Functional Skills English (Entry Level to Level 2).
· Plan, prepare and assess teaching materials in line with curriculum standards and learner needs.
· Support learners with varying abilities to achieve successful outcomes
· Monitor student progress and provide timely, supportive feedback.
· Collaborate with colleagues to continuously enhance the learning experience
· Contribute to departmental meetings, quality assurance, and curriculum development.
· Maintain accurate records in accordance with college policies and awarding body requirements.


Educations, Skills and Experience:

· A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, Cert Ed)
· Degree in English or a related subject
· A proven track record in teaching GCSE English and/or Functional Skills within a post-16 or FE setting.
· Strong understanding of Functional Skills and/or GCSE English curriculum
· Excellent communication, organisational, and classroom management skills.
· A student-centred approach and commitment to supporting positive outcomes for all learners.
· Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
