1. Purpose of Job

Plan, deliver, and develop high-quality learning opportunities for students to help them achieve their learning goals, in accordance with the College’s mission, values, and objectives.

Provide professional support in curriculum development, delivery, student support, placement, and assessment, including associated organisational, administrative, and management responsibilities.

2. Principal Accountabilities

The duties of a Lecturer are wide-ranging and professional in nature, including but not limited to the following:

  1. Provide high-quality teaching, learning, assessment, and internal moderation across a range of courses up to and including Higher Education.
  2. Develop and prepare curricula, course plans, learning materials, assignments, activities, and assessments.
  3. Monitor and assess students’ progress, maintaining accurate records.
  4. Offer quality tutorship, support students’ academic and vocational targets, and communicate progress to stakeholders.
  5. Lead courses, ensuring high retention and achievement, including planning, assessment, and liaising with college departments.
  6. Interview and advise prospective students, assist with enrolments, and ensure smooth transitions.
  7. Monitor attendance and maintain student records within the College’s MIS.
  8. Organize student placements and communicate with workplace supervisors.
  9. Review course performance and plan improvements based on feedback.
  10. Engage in marketing, liaising with schools, sector reps, and employers to develop programmes and recruit students.
  11. Participate in College events and engage in professional development.
  12. Support policies, procedures, and quality assurance, including health & safety and safeguarding.
  13. Promote equality and diversity and operate flexibly to meet organisational needs.
  14. Perform other duties as appropriate.
Generic Duties

All academic staff are expected to:

  1. Complete administrative tasks promptly.
  2. Assist in covering classes for absent colleagues.
  3. Respond to student data requests.
  4. Supervise students on and off-campus.
  5. Support additional student needs with the Support Team.
  6. Participate in meetings, record minutes, and assist with student awards.
  7. Handle enquiries, compliments, and complaints.
