Description

Coordinate designated study programme delivery activities for the College, including the delivery of high-quality teaching, assessment, and feedback to students. Description

Lecturers should be passionate about their area of teaching and enthusiastic about developing engaging course materials, lesson plans, and assessments aligned with the A-Level curriculum. Provide academic support and guidance to promote positive learning outcomes and develop employability skills. Regular target setting and progress monitoring are essential to help students reach their full potential.

Main Responsibilities and Duties
  • Deliver high-quality teaching within English (including A-Level English Language, GCSE English Language, and Access to Higher Education – English Literature), prepare teaching materials, schemes of work, and lesson plans, develop and implement curriculum, and undertake quality assurance in collaboration with relevant managers. Assess student work, monitor progress, and communicate results to parents and relevant agencies, ensuring statutory compliance including safeguarding, equal opportunities, and health and safety.
  • Manage day-to-day course activities including communication, problem-solving, timetable checks, arranging cover, coordinating work experience and enrichment activities, liaising with departments, and ensuring compliance and consistency across sites.
  • Assist with recruitment, manage enrolments, and organize induction programmes for students.
  • Conduct regular meetings with students, set and review SMART targets, support UCAS applications, and address pastoral and academic needs in collaboration with college services.
  • Monitor attendance and results, report on performance, and implement action plans where necessary.
  • Promote English and Maths provision, monitor attendance, and support student movement to these classes.
  • Participate in meetings, parent evenings, marketing events, and CPD activities, including peer observation and mentoring new lecturers.
  • Assist with departmental administration, including record-keeping, reports, and managing the Virtual Learning Environment.
  • Participate in quality assurance processes such as verification, moderation, course reviews, and self-assessment reviews.
  • Undertake internal verification and moderation for curricula and liaise with higher education institutions regarding UCAS references.
