English HLTA - Secondary School - Merton
Location: Merton, South West London
Start Date: September 2025
Salary: 100- 120 per day (depending on experience)
Contract: Full-time, Term-time only - Long-term with potential for permanent placement

We are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive mainstream secondary school in the heart of Merton, who are seeking a confident and committed English Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their dynamic team this September.

About the Role:

As an English HLTA, you will play a vital role in supporting students across KS3 and KS4, helping to raise attainment in English. Your responsibilities will include:

• Delivering targeted English interventions to small groups and individual pupils

• Supporting teaching and learning within English lessons

• Leading literacy booster sessions and assisting with reading programmes

• Planning and delivering cover lessons under teacher guidance when required

• Supporting pupils with varying levels of ability, including those with additional needs
