English Graduate – Cover Supervisor – South Sheffield | Elevate Supply

Elevate Supply is delighted to be working in partnership with a dynamic and welcoming secondary school in South Sheffield to recruit ambitious and motivated English Graduates looking to take their first steps into the world of education. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain invaluable classroom experience as a Cover Supervisor, particularly for those considering a future in teaching or educational support.

This is a full-time role, with onboarding to be completed by the May half term for a June start, running through to the end of the academic year and with a strong likelihood of a longer-term or permanent opportunity from September.

???? Pay Rate: £90 – £110 per day, depending on experience and qualifications.

The Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes across various subjects—with a particular focus on English—in the absence of the regular teacher. You’ll be responsible for delivering pre-set work, managing classroom behaviour, and supporting students to remain focused and engaged in their learning.

Your Responsibilities

• Deliver pre-prepared lessons to KS3 and KS4 students
• Maintain a calm and focused learning environment
• Encourage student participation and engagement, particularly in literacy-based tasks
• Manage behaviour in line with the school’s policies
• Provide feedback to teachers on student progress and conduct
• Act as a positive role model and ambassador for the subject of English
  
  

What We’re Looking For

• A recent degree in English, English Literature, English Language or a related subject (essential)
• A passion for education and inspiring young minds
• Experience working with young people (in schools, tutoring, or youth work is desirable)
• Confidence, initiative, and excellent communication skills
• Strong classroom presence and a calm, professional attitude
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
