Job description

Prospero Teaching is currently seeking English graduates with a keen interest in education to join a secondary school in North London. We are looking for individuals who have excelled in English at both GCSE and A-levels and hold a degree in an English-related field. Are you interested in working as a teaching assistant in a secondary school with opportunities to train as a teacher in the future?

As an English teaching assistant, you will work in a secondary school environment with students aged 11–16 who need continuity, positive role models, patience, and understanding.

What does the English Graduate Teaching Assistant role involve?
  • Supporting the class teacher and students during lessons
  • Building rapport with 5–6 students with specific needs and implementing strategies to nurture, engage, and raise attainment
  • Providing 1:1 English tuition sessions supporting your subject specialism
  • Running intervention groups to build students' knowledge of English
What support will I be given?
  • Training, guidance, and support from an experienced consultant at Prospero and our Training and Development Team, as well as from the school
  • Free CPD sessions and training programs
School support includes:
  • Resources and strategies for supporting learners
  • Behaviour management training
  • Group and 1:1 training from passionate, qualified staff
Role details:
  • Full-time hours, 8am – 4pm, Monday to Friday
  • Running an after-school club once a week and attending a departmental meeting weekly
  • Paid weekly at £95–£105 per day, with potential for a permanent position
