Job description

Elevate Supply is working in partnership with well-regarded secondary schools in Manchester to recruit a reliable and engaging English Cover Supervisor. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a passion for English literature and language to support students across Key Stages 3 and 4 in a classroom setting.

This full-time role is to start immediately and will run through to the end of the academic year.

The Role:

As an English Cover Supervisor, you will deliver pre-set lessons in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring students stay focused and engaged with their English studies. You'll support learning across a range of abilities and contribute to a positive classroom environment.

Your Responsibilities:

1. Deliver pre-planned English lessons to KS3 and KS4 students
2. Encourage students to engage with reading, writing, and discussion
3. Provide brief feedback to teaching staff about student progress and participation
4. Support other subject areas with general cover supervision when needed
5. Collaborate with teachers and leaders to ensure consistency and high standards

What We’re Looking For:

• Previous experience working with young people in a school, tutoring, or education setting
• A strong interest in English language and literature
• The confidence to lead a classroom and support student learning
• Adaptability, reliability, and a proactive mindset
• A degree in English or a related subject is desirable but not essential
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)
