Job description

Job Title: Engineers - Mechanical & Electrical

Location: Preston, Lancashire, UK

Salary: Circa 40,000 per annum, dependent on experience

Job type: Full time, Permanent

Gafoor is a dynamic and rapidly growing family-owned business in Preston. They are a key player in their sector operating on a national basis, supplying poultry products to leading blue chip manufacturers.

About the Role:

We are looking to recruit one electrical and one mechanical engineer who will work closely with the manufacturing team maintaining and servicing all processing machinery to ensure that machinery downtime is kept to a minimum and that all preventative maintenance is conducted to avoid production disruption.

You will need to have worked in a similar manufacturing environment and be able to carry out preventative maintenance, fault finding and deal with machine down-time efficiently.

The candidate will rotate as part of a multi-disciplinary team working across both day and night shifts. Excellent communication skills are a must as well as a flexible and proactive approach to ensure the needs of the business are met. Occasional weekend work is required for installation and larger scale maintenance projects in order to avoid disruption during normal production times.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Complete repairs and breakdowns in a timely manner and perform RCA's (Root Cause Analysis) to ensure corrective and preventative actions are completed.
  2. Maintain the highest standards of housekeeping.
  3. Comply with all company Health & Safety rules and be able to escalate any failures.
  4. Work closely with the Engineering Manager and the Manufacturing Managers.
  5. Be part of an Engineering team dedicated to providing a world class service.
  6. Be confident to communicate effectively and have the initiative to take the lead when required.
  7. Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and practices.
  8. Comply with all existing SWPs and contribute to the continuous improvement of SWPs.
  9. In the future support and mentor Electrical Apprentices on site.

About you:

Essential Requirements:

  1. Must be fluent in English (verbal and written).
  2. Excellent I.T Skills.
  3. Relevant degree and a good practical working knowledge is essential.
  4. Minimum 3 years' post qualification experience working in a fast-paced factory/manufacturing environment.
  5. Good experience and able to demonstrate a methodical approach to fault finding.
  6. Conversant with UK Health & Safety rules, regulations and best practices.
  7. Ability to prioritise workload and concisely record information.
  8. Knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics.
