Job Description

This role is responsible for managing the Engineering Test and Means team and facilities to perform Validation and Verification activities on Safran Electrical and Power (SEP) products. The role will also coordinate with the Test Equipment team in Operations at Pitstone and other similar V&V teams across SAFRAN.

Responsibilities:

  1. Manage the Test and Means team, including engineers and contractors.
  2. Support and monitor achievement of annual Business Objectives.
  3. Define testing schedules for SEP programs, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
  4. Manage the Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and Test Laboratory, maintaining and developing testing capabilities.
  5. Maintain staffing and skill levels aligned with business needs.
  6. Ensure successful delivery of Work Packages for testing activities.
  7. Establish and ensure adherence to testing processes.
  8. Lead problem resolution for complex testing issues.
  9. Manage budgets for Capital Expenditure and Operational Expenditure (~£250k annually).
  10. Ensure value for money and high-quality deliverables.
Complementary Description:

Accountable for the technical quality, resource planning, skills development, process adherence, safety policies, milestone delivery, workload management, and team development within the Test & Means team.

Job Requirements:
  1. Experience in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering or relevant qualification.
  2. Understanding of development and certification processes, including compliance verification and testing.
  3. Knowledge of electrical systems, generators, motors, and relevant standards (RTCA DO-160, MIL-STD-810).
  4. Facility and HSE management experience.
  5. Strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  6. Ability to work systematically, meet deadlines, and make sound decisions.
  7. Change management experience; ISO/IEC 17025 knowledge is advantageous.
