MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or GED Certificate.

Vocational/Specialized Training in AutoCAD, Engineering, and/or Surveying.

2 - 3 years of experience in drafting, staking and surveying.

2 - 3 years of experience with electric, gas, water/wastewater operations.

Experience in engineering work in a utility related field.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

AutoCAD Software knowledge and experience.

Navajo speaking is required.

Valid Driver's License (subject to motor vehicle record review).

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:

Prepares engineering line designs, drafting and feasibility cost estimates for utility lines within the boundaries of the NTUA service area and on the Navajo reservation.

Works with the Navajo Nation chapters to identify customers according to Chapter resolution; route proposed line on quad map, provide feasibility estimate (develop and identify service area and create the proposed service on a quad map).

Prepares "as-built" drawings for all electric projects.

Creates work orders for projects, monitors and closes the orders once the projects are completed. Coordinates changes and/or additions of work orders with respective NTUA personnel.

Conducts survey of proposed or existing facilities.

Assists and/or obtains right-of-way, archaeological clearances and similar field clearances.

Represents NTUA at meetings with customers, consultants and contractors in reference to assigned projects.

Monitors NTUA work orders and provides status reports to supervisor.

Maintains maps; performs field verifications and checks completed maps.

Marks points of measurement with elevation, station number or other identifying marks.

Contacts customers to evaluate environmental conditions and/or obtain necessary information for completion of requests for new service.

Processes telephone and television cable companies on joint use application.

Performs other duties as assigned or requested
