At Pets, our aim is to give the nation's pets what they need to be at their best. We are motivated to find the best talent in the Logistics & Distribution industry. Currently, we are looking for a Technician to join our Engineering Team at our Fulfilment Centre in Stafford.

The Role

Our Fulfilment Centre includes a high degree of automation, containing an automated storage and retrieval system and associated conveyance, designed to streamline and improve the e-commerce side of the business.

We are recruiting engineering technicians with experience in maintaining MHE (materials handling equipment) and other assets to support the operation of the facility.

The engineering technician will provide reactive and proactive maintenance on all operational equipment and infrastructure within the FC, directly impacting site productivity and operation. Equipment issues can reduce capacity and throughput.

Key Responsibilities

• Prioritize health & safety in all work, ensuring compliance with standards and regulations.
• Perform planned preventative maintenance on equipment within the site.
• Respond quickly to breakdowns, communicate effectively, and work efficiently to resolve issues.
• Support continuous improvement by learning from breakdowns and providing feedback and suggestions.
• Ensure high equipment availability for internal customers.
• Manage contractors effectively.

Qualifications

• Multi-skilled in electrical and mechanical disciplines.
• Experience with preventative maintenance systems.
• Fault-finding experience with MHE/Automation systems.
• Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
• Experience with conveyor maintenance, motor controllers/inverters.
• Completed a full engineering apprenticeship and/or qualified to NVQ level 3 or equivalent.

Experience

• Experience with sortation machines.
• Experience maintaining/configuring barcode scanners.
• Experience with print and apply machines.
• Experience fault-finding on building equipment such as HVAC, dock doors, plumbing, electrical, and general maintenance tasks.
