Engineering Technician - Hertfordshire

Job Title: Engineering Technician

Location: Hertfordshire

Status: Permanent, Day shift with overtime opportunities

Purpose

Ensure reliable, GMP-compliant operation of manufacturing and packaging equipment, supporting production efficiency and quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair production equipment to meet operational targets.
  • Apply GMP and engineering best practices.
  • Develop and update maintenance procedures and schedules.
  • Supervise contractors and manage equipment modifications.
  • Plan and execute shutdowns, order parts, and assess critical spares.
  • Investigate equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Support production, technical, and quality teams.
  • Operate and maintain CMMS.
  • Participate in commissioning and advise on equipment selection.
  • Opportunities to work on multiple projects in Production and manufacturing

Skills & Qualifications

  • Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent (e.g., City & Guilds, BTEC Level 3).
  • Strong fault-finding and documentation skills.
  • Experience in a highly regulated manufacturing environment
  • Experience with Solid Dose manufacturing equipment (eg Granulation, Coating, Fluid Bed driers, compression) is highly desirable
